Bring the Beach Home with This Hang Loose Beach Party

Celebrate summer and bring the beach home with a hang loose beach party. To begin, choose colors that create the surfer “feel.” I chose red, yellow, and light blue.

Be sure to use patterns and textures that remind you of surf boards and the beach, like a white and yellow tablecloth, coconut cups, hand-painted signs, and fish netting over the dessert table.

I think it’s great fun to double party gifts as decor. For example, this party wouldn’t have been the same without the blue beach towels on the benches, the red pails full of goodies, and the coordinating flip flops. The pails are filled with taffy, bubble wands, sunglasses, candy sticks, sidewalk chalk, punching balloons and dizzy pops.

Create coordinating flip flops by cutting the straps off cheap flip flops and glueing cute ribbons in their place. Then, place them in a cute basket or pail.

Every party needs a great buffet that matches its theme. I put mine on an old lemonade stand I had built. I liked that the white paint had worn off a bit and that I could attach the “Relax” letters to it. It matched my theme perfectly. I threw some burlap and a fish net over the table to complete the look. You could do this over any table — burlap is inexpensive so you can get enough to reach the floor if you need to.

For the sweets I thought of some beach and water-related treats that I could blend into my color scheme. Then I created these free printables and I cut them out using my die-cut machine. There are “Hang Loose” tags that you can tie onto treat bags with jute, beach signs that you can glue onto dowels for cupcakes toppers, and labels for goldfish, fish bait, and shark kabobs.

For fun, I also created crab sandwiches by gluing googly eyes onto dowels and sticking them in croissants.
