You have the freedom to party so why not plan one for the Fourth of July? Make it easy on yourself by setting up an all-American chili dog station as the focal point of your bash with these tips, brought to you by the makers of HORMEL® Chili.
A printable sign goes a long way in framing your food table and is super simple to set up. Print this “Chili Dog Station” sign on 8 1/2″ x 11″ card stock and find an 8 1/2″ x 11″ frame to place it in so it can stand up on its own and introduce the table.
Sparks will fly if you get everyone in the festive mood. Speak to the summer season with red, white and blue utensils, napkins, plates and serveware containers. Paint tin cans red or blue and place straws and utensils in the cans (extra points if you use star or striped paper straws). Create DIY leftover jar favors for guests by tying red or blue bandanas around the tops of the glass jars.
Keep things simple by mixing one all-American staple with another: chili and hot dogs! Serve HORMEL® Chili with No Beans so guests can top off their hot dogs and set aside a bowl of HORMEL® Chili with Beans so guests with gluten allergies can serve their chili in a bowl.
Set out loads of toppings to add even more flavor to the chili dogs or chili bowls. We went for yellow and green onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, corn and shredded cheese. Serve the toppings in smaller, mix-and-matched bowls in red, white or blue. Don’t forget to provide small serving utensils in each individual bowl of toppings. Grab some ketchup or mustard for guests that want to add even more flavor to their Fourth of July fare.
Opt for paper food trays instead of plates so guests’ chili dogs don’t slide around — plus they’re extra festive! Get even more into the patriotic spirit by adding red and white checkered or striped basket liners to each paper food tray.
Have guests use glass or disposable bowls — depending on how fancy or casual you want to get — for those who want their chili sans hot dog bun.
Chili and/or hot dogs are also kid-favorites so if you have little ones running around, they’ll love creating their own meal.
