This gold and pink road race party was created for my daughter Parker, who is the perfect mix of princess and warrior and has a huge love for cars. Parker also loves to watch me craft and asked me one day to make her cars gold. This inspired me to create a gold and pink race car birthday party to celebrate her femininity, favorite colors and love for fast cars at the same time — the perfect mighty girl party.

We modeled this party off of a cross-country road race with a mix of cars of all shapes and sizes racing down “Route 4.” Elena from World Wide Party created custom printables (vintage pink cars, gold flames, race car helmets and more) for this theme. I picked up wheelbarrow tires, toy cars, oil funnels and race tracks and spray painted them all gold. Then I searched for pink tool boxes and racing gear that could be combined with pretty pink tulle and tissue decor.

The dessert table became an auto shop. I clipped a race sign and race gear to a pegboard backdrop and displayed a road rally trophy and the cake on top of a giant gold tire.

Kids love photo booths and since Parker loves to pretend to drive, I decided on a large cardboard cut-out of a pink car. This was a big hit with kids and adults alike and Parker drove her friends around wearing a helmet, gloves and goggles.

You can get creative with your signs and labels and use terms and sayings that fit the theme. I created a “Buff & Polish” station where the kids could get their faces or nails painted. We also incorporated fun road puns into table signs and food labels, like popcorn row, crudité circle and candy lane.

The main eating table provided some additional entertainment as we had a gold race track and gold cars down the middle of the table lined with tulle pom pom trees and road signs. In my opinion, never be afraid of getting right into the theme — the little details can be so much fun! I also used cardboard popcorn holders in the shape of vintage pink Cadillacs, fun for eating and driving around the party room.

I always like to keep the party favors within the theme but also offer something creative that kids can do at home, like an activity with their parents. This time I made mini Car-rariums. These are easy to put together. I put race cars, mini trees, mini toadstools, a finish line flag and glitter snow inside a plastic reusable mason jar. We hope the guests had fun at home creating a magical car world in a jar and remembering the fun time they had at Parker’s birthday. Zooooooooom!
