When a good friend was getting ready to sign her divorce papers, I realized there really isn’t much out there when it comes to divorce parties. I wanted to create something fun, girly and a little sassy for ladies like my friends who just wanted to move on with their lives and celebrate their newfound freedom.
Since I love Champagne, I came up with the tagline, “Pop the Champagne…no more ball and chain!™” I turned to some talented friends to help me with custom graphics, gorgeous cookies, meringues, cake pops, chocolate tools and the most amazing three-tiered cake with hundreds of fondant pearls. One of my favorite DIY decorations at the party was the super easy ball and chain, made from black paper lanterns and a paper chain. I repurposed an old backdrop from a football party I’d styled that reminded me of prison stripes — it was perfect! Aside from all the treats, the big hit was the champagne Jell-O shooters in diamond-ring shot cups. I designed this party with my own girlfriends in mind and hope that if you or a friend find yourselves looking at starting a new chapter, this party can offer you some fun ideas.
