I had so much fun planning this preschool graduation party around Evite’s super cute “One Smart Cookie” invitation design. I couldn’t have asked for a better theme as my little boy is a preschooler. The mothers of my son’s classmates and I were just thrilled to see them in caps and gowns complete with tassels.

I added school elements like the cookie with the graduation hat, books, diplomas and mini chalkboard signs. The kids also had fun playing with and posing for pictures with the big chalkboard signs and thought bubbles.

The dessert table was decorated with paper fans that said “One Smart Cookie” along with a giant balloon adorned with beautiful tissue tassels. A two-tiered chocolate chip cookie cake, cookie dough cake pops covered in mini chocolate chips, mini parfaits, chocolate cupcakes topped with cookies and cream or chocolate frosting, and nerdy cookies were served.

Adorable mini bottles were filled with milk, complete with mini chocolate chip cookies and paper straws. How fun are the mini diplomas on each straw?

For the kids’ table, I used square paper plates in two different colors — brown and cream to mimic cookie colors. Wooden utensils were neatly placed in paper bags and decorated with tags and baker’s twine. Napkins were rolled up and tied to resemble school diplomas!

The kids wore customized shirts, which included their name, as well as caps and gowns for a fun photo op.

Each kid received a white box filled with a sugar cookie they could color. I attached a paint brush to each box with coordinating washi tape and paired the box with a mini water cup. The “paint your own cookie” activity — an idea I got from Montreal Confections — was the highlight of the party. I had my local bakery, Celebrations Cake Shop, make the cookies and it was the perfect activity for their age — quick and fun. Not to mention they could take their piece of art home and eat it too! Check out the kids in action!

For the favors, I filled clear tubes with mini gumballs embellished with DIY graduation hats. White gable boxes were beautifully decorated with mini buntings saying “One Smart Cookie” and “Class of 2015” secured with washi tape and mini clothespins. The kids filled their boxes with lots of sweets to take home.
