Or, if you’re going as a guest, make one of these colorful — and customizable — creations to give as a hostess gift. The best part? These surprise balls can be made for any manner of occasions. Planning a kids’ birthday? Fill your surprise ball with tiny treats to hand out as post-party favors. Or, stuff them inside a piñata as a substitute for sugary sweets. Planning a baby shower? If you’re the mom-to-be, you can use these surprise balls to reveal the baby’s gender. Materials:
- Crepe paper streamers (2 81″ rolls make 1 ball)
- 8-10 assorted “surprise” fillers (candy, toys, trinkets, etc.)
- Washi tape
- Scissors
- Free printable gift tags
Directions:
Step 1: Start by cutting strips of crepe paper streamers in half length-wise.
Step 2: Take your largest “surprise” filler and start wrapping the crepe paper around. Seal with washi tape. Tip: Place your filler on the edge of one streamer and wrap it in a cross pattern (side to side, top to bottom) until the object is completely covered.
Step 3: Add a second small surprise and continue wrapping with crepe paper until it is completely covered. Seal with washi tape.
Step 4: Repeat until you have a fully formed surprise ball.
Step 5: Seal the last layer with a sticker or gift tag and gift to a friend!
