Invite your friends over for a casual yet elegant wine and popcorn outdoor movie night.
In order to have a movie night, you need to create a screen. Creating a screen is easier than you would think. I found that a white sheet works great. Simply tie a rope to the top two corners and tie the ropes onto something to hold it up. I tied them in knots because I liked the way it looked. You could use twine or ribbon if you would prefer and you can tie it to a fence, the side of your house or even the free space in between two trees — whatever works best for you. Then add some attractive lights for ambience and texture to keep lit before and after the movie. I used a string of café lights and I hung them over the top of the screen. You also need a great, comfy place to sit. For this, grab your cutest blankets and pillows, preferably matching. Place them all around on the ground in front of the area where you will be showing your movie. Group the pillows into bunches. This makes it look organized and it creates separate seating areas for your guests. The bonus of sitting on the ground is that benches and trays make great tables. I used a picnic bench as the buffet table and wicker tray for a table on the blankets.
Yummy food is also a must for a great movie night. I chose to serve fun, simple, and classy movie treats like popcorn, cheese, and wine since it was an adult movie night.
Iced fruit kabobs are beautiful and easy. They work great for keeping your drinks cold without watering them down. You can create your own using martini sticks, kumquats, and the berries of your choice. Simply string the fruit and berries onto the martini sticks and freeze them in a single layer before using them.
