Do you ever find yourself stressed out just thinking about your holiday menu? If you’re hosting lots of friends and family for Christmas dinner this year, you’re probably already thinking about the recipes you’d like to include, the desserts you’d like to serve, and how you’d like your dining room to look when you greet your guests. While I love planning for the holidays, I know how easy it can be to overcomplicate your menu, which will leave you feeling drained and unable to actually enjoy the beauty and spirit of the season. This easy recipe, brought to you by KING’S HAWAIIAN® Brand, will take the stress out of your holiday menu prep.
From deciding on your main course to figuring out which desserts need the oven and which can be made ahead, your head will start to spin if you don’t give yourself permission to keep things simple. You also may not realize that your stress transfers to your guests and if the host isn’t having a great night, neither will their guests!
Focusing on your main dish and sides will help you to know what other items you’ll have time for and how complicated you want them to be. If you’re on the hunt for a simple dessert or treat to accompany your holiday dinner, I’ve put together a recipe for Caramel Pull-Apart Bread that I know will be a big hit at your festive get-together!
This recipe combines the delicious flavor and texture of caramel with the sweetness and texture of my favorite KING’S HAWAIIAN® Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls. I’ve made pull- apart bread recipes before using other types of bread, but there’s something undeniably delicious about using these rolls, which you can easily pick up during your next trip to Walmart.
Ingredients:
- 12 KING’S HAWAIIAN® Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
- 5-ounce package cook-and-serve vanilla pudding (not instant)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 8 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
Topping:
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 8 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
Directions:
Step 1: Cut each roll into 6 pieces.
Step 2: Spray a Bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray, then sprinkle pecans into an even layer at the bottom of the pan.
Step 3: Place half the cut rolls on top of the nut layer, then sprinkle about half of the dry pudding mix over the rolls.
Step 4: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and melted butter, then drizzle half the mixture over the pudding mix/bread.
Step 5: Repeat with remaining rolls, pudding mix, and sugar-butter mixture.
Step 6: Bake at 350ºF for 15-20 minutes and let cool for 5 minutes. To remove from pan, place a large dish over pan, then carefully flip the pan over, making sure the plate stays under the pan. Remove pan, then cover with topping mixture by combining melted butter with brown sugar (as before).
Holiday Party Tip: Keep the Menu Simple
Keeping things simple during your holiday cooking spree will not only alleviate your stress, but your guests will enjoy their meal much more knowing that the chef is happy in the kitchen. I promise your family and friends will be much happier knowing you whipped up three different sides for your holiday meal with a smile on your face, than if they knew you toiled and anguished over nine and never got to enjoy a single moment.
Think simply this holiday season and give your guests the gift of a stress-free celebration. Happy holidays!
