Before friends head home for the holidays, get the gang together for a laid-back movie night. The final months of the year can be chaotic, so keep it casual — a good movie, good food and good company are all you need. Check out this holiday movie party guide for tips, brought to you by Evite and Heineken.

Holiday Movie Night: Set out the Essentials
Make sure you have all the necessities for setting up a home theater: a big-screen TV, plenty of seating and substantial speakers.
Make a basic backdrop for your food and drinks table using supplies you’re already likely to have on hand. Cover a blank wall with wrapping paper, then cut out colored paper to create a simple flag garland.
Your wrapping paper wall can also double as a photo booth backdrop. For a fun activity, encourage guests to strike a pose and snap a selfie.
Holiday Movie Night: Serve up Some Snacks
No movie marathon is complete without munchies. Prepare a simple spread of cheese and crackers for guests to snack on while they watch. Include a hard cheese (such as manchego), a soft cheese (such as goat cheese) and a blue cheese so there’s something for everyone, as well as sliced salami or some prosciutto. Set out bowls of popcorn, mixed nuts and chocolates for guest to get their sweet-and-salty fix.
Stock up on all the staples like bottled water, sodas and beer (red-and-green Heineken bottles lend instant holiday spirit), then fill a drinks tub with ice to keep drinks cool. Add some holiday cheer to your bottles of beer by making these super simple DIY sock koozies — they’ll help protect your hands from the frosty glass and keep the brewskies cold.
Holiday Movie Night: Get Your Gift On
In the spirit of the season of giving, prep favor bags for your friends to take home. Fill them with a selection of snacks, like mini popcorn bags or chocolates — guests can break them out while watching the movie or save them for later.
