Third-wheeling or standing under the mistletoe alone is no fun. Get out of your comfort zone this season and throw a singles mingle soiree. Only singles allowed!

Hosting: The thought of throwing a party can be overwhelming, especially when it’s a singles mixer, so gather your closest friends and plan it together.
Guest List: Make a guest list and have your friends check it twice. Invite friends new and old, then have your friends do the same. This will create a good mix of people to get to know one another. As for size, keep in mind the space where you’ll be hosting. The more people, the more noise and cleanup.
The Date: When choosing the date, go for a Wednesday or Thursday night. First, it’ll keep your party casual and low-pressure, and second, it gives guests the opportunity to make weekend plans if they hit it off.
Deck the Halls: If you’re hosting a singles party, mistletoe is a must. For more decoration inspiration, check out our modern Christmas decor.
Food: Go with easy finger food, like bacon-wrapped tater tots. Meeting new people is intimidating enough — save your guests the trouble of finding themselves staring into the eyes of a cutie, unable to chew gracefully or swiftly.
Drinks: Create a signature cocktail for your party along with having beer, wine and water available.
Joyful Jingles: Create a mix of various holiday songs to get the party started and keep the energy up.
Name Tags for the Nice and Naughty: Help your guests remember names by creating a jingle-jangle name tag station. It also doubles as a fun activity! Punch a hole in small index cards and thread string through them to use as name tags. Then write each guest’s name on a tag and set them all out on a table. Have guests find their name tag, decorate the tag, put two truths and one lie about themselves on the reverse side, and wear the tag around their neck. Throughout the party, encourage guests to guess each other’s lies. Bonus points: Purchase a bunch of different pairs of jingle bells (different colors, sizes, etc.) or stickers, based on the amount of guests, and attach one bell from one bell pair or sticker to a girl’s name tag and the other bell in the pair or matching sticker to a boy’s name tag before setting them out. Repeat for as many guests as you have attending. The singles must mingle to find their missing bell/sticker and the first couple to find each other’s missing bell/matching sticker gets a prize!
