If you’re over the age of 40, chances are you’ve already been to your fair share of bachelorette parties involving sparkly tiaras, R-rated party favors, and lots of alcohol. But with weddings happening more often at all stages of life, we know the traditional one-size-fits-all celebrations don’t always work for everyone. We’ve put together a list of 8 alternative ideas with a more “grown up” bachelorette party twist to give brides in every stage of life the chance to spend some meaningful pre-wedding time with their friends.

Escape for a Spa Day

Treat the bride-to-be to a day of indulgence at a local spa. Whether her bridal party is made of new parents or hard-working professionals (or both), they’ll surely appreciate a little pampering too. If you’re concerned about different guests’ budgets, it’s also super easy to create a DIY spa at home.

Take a Weekend Trip

Escape from daily life with the bride’s friends for a peaceful weekend out of town. Steer clear of big party destinations like Vegas and Miami, and instead gather around a campfire at a cozy cabin, or post up on the beach for a weekend of rest and catching up.

Hit Up a Burlesque Show

A more sophisticated twist on the traditional strip club, a burlesque show is the perfect place to take a big group of friends for some PG-13 fun. Bonus points if you get the bride up on stage!

Throw an Old-Fashioned Slumber Party

A slumber party is easy to pull off on any budget and involves tons of throwback fun for all. Rent a scary movie, paint each other’s toes, play truth or dare, and end the night with a Champagne toast to the bride.

Get Together and Cook

Cooking a meal together has always been a great way to bond, and if the bride is a foodie, it can be the perfect way to gather and appreciate her. Whether you take a professional class or learn a recipe on your own, cooking and conversation is an ideal low-key evening.

Take a Dance Class

Contrary to popular belief, pole dancing is not the only bachelorette-approved dance activity. Take the girls to a local salsa, tango, or ballroom class for guaranteed laughs and bonus endorphins. If there are guys in your group, this can also be a super fun one to include them in. You can even ask the instructor to teach you a group number and show it off at the wedding!

Hit the Town for High Tea

A bachelorette tea? You bet. Many hotels and restaurants offer classic high tea now, and it makes for a super fun and elegant afternoon. Dress up in your fanciest clothes, throw your pinkies up, and toast the bride with a cup of chamomile.

Host an “All the Girls” Day

Does the bride-to-be want to include every generation in her bachelorette festivities? We love a girly party that gets kids, moms, grandmas (and even the guys!) in on the fun. Pick some family-friendly games, add lots of snacks, drinks, and flowers, and don’t forget instant photos to document memories for everyone.
