Don’t you just love a winter wedding? Incorporate your love for the snowy season into your wedding with a beautiful wood-burned favor box. Fill it with a single serve s’more and top it with seasonal greenery.
I love to create a cohesive wedding theme and this easy-to-make craft is inspired by the winter evergreen wreath on this Evite Premium Invitation.
Your guests will love this taste of winter enclosed in a beautiful keepsake wood-burned box—a memory of your love-filled celebration that captures your theme from beginning to end.
Materials (Makes minimum of 12 favor boxes)
- Unfinished wood trinket boxes
- Wood Stain Tube
- Small clear favor bags – 3” x 5”
- S’mores ingredients
- Black & white bakers twine
- Black & white ribbon
- Faux snow-tipped pine branches or stems
- Boxwood leaf ribbon roll
- Faux white floral
- Rags
- Disposable gloves
- Large glue dots
- Floral wire
Tools
- Lowercase Alphabet Hot Stamps Set
- Creative Woodburner® Value Tool
- Pliers
- Low-temp glue gun & glue sticks
Directions
1. Remove the letters you need from the Lowercase Alphabet Hot Stamp Set. I used the letters to spell out “LOVE.” Screw on and unscrew each letter from the wood burner tool using pliers.
Tip: Follow ALL the manufacturer’s safety instructions!
2. Heat up the tool. Once hot, press the tool against bottom front side of the box until the desired burn is achieved (approx. six seconds). Repeat burning that same letter into each of your box lids. Then, repeat this process for every additional letter until the entire word has been stamped onto every box.
3. Wearing disposable gloves, use a clean rag to apply stain to the boxes. Rub the stain in and wipe any excess off. Once dry, add a second coat to achieve the desired darkness. Continue this process until all the boxes are stained. Allow to dry.
4. Create a single serving s’more by sandwiching chocolate and marshmallow between two graham crackers.
5. Place the single serve s’more into a small clear bag. Close the bag and tie with bakers twine. Repeat until desired number of single serve bags are complete.
6. Place the bag into the box and close the lid. Cut a length of ribbon to fit and secure around the box with large glue dots or tape. Repeat until all boxes are filled.
Tip: Use glue dots or tape instead of hot glue so that the boxes will be easy for the guests to open and can be kept as a keepsake.
7. Gather your faux winter greenery – pine, boxwood leaf ribbon and a small white floral of your choice.
8. Cut a long stem of pine using pliers. Repeat until the desired number is achieved. Bend the pine into a wreath shape and secure in place with floral wire. Repeat until all wreath shapes are complete.
9. Wrap boxwood leaf ribbon around the wreath. Repeat until all wreaths are wrapped.
10. Cut a small white floral using pliers (approx. 3 small stems). Repeat until the desired number is achieved.
11. Space evenly and hot glue the white floral stems securely into the wreath. Repeat until all wreaths are complete.
12. Finally, hot glue the completed wreaths securely onto the strip of ribbon. Repeat until all the boxes are complete.
To highlight the beauty of winter throughout the remainder of your wedding décor, think cozy accents, faux fur, glittering metallics, and more seasonal foliage!
When you work with what is in season, you get florals & foliage at the peak of their supply when costs are normally lower. Plus, also look to source locally and reduce shipping costs too. Sharing love and wishes for a beautiful winter wedding!
